Welcome to Hockey Indigenous. By accessing or using our website, programs, events, services, or content (collectively, the "We", "Us", "Our", or “Services”), you agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our Services.
 

Terms and Conditions Policy for Hockey Indigenous

  • “User” refers to any individual accessing the website.

  • “Participant” refers to any individual registered in or attending a Hockey Indigenous program, event, activity, workshop, tournament, or service.

  • “Services” includes all programs, events, content, digital platforms, registrations, and community initiatives offered by Hockey Indigenous.

  • “Website” refers to all Hockey Indigenous-owned digital platforms.

Acceptance and Binding Agreement

By accessing Hockey Indigenous Website, Social Media, or engaging in any Services, you confirm that you:
 

  • Have read, understood, and agree to be legally bound by these Terms

  • Have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement

  • You are acting with the consent of a parent or legal guardian if under the age of 18, If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately discontinue use of the Website and Services.

  • On the other hand, governing your access to and use of the digital platforms, websites, and online services that display or provide an authorized link to these Terms (collectively, the "Services")

  •  If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction of residence, your parent or legal guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf.

  • Please read these Terms carefully before using the Services. It is your responsibility to check these Terms periodically for changes. Your access to and use of the Services indicates your acceptance and agreement to be bound by the Terms.

  • Participate in the National Indigenous Junior Hockey Championships (The "NIJHC")

These Terms apply to all users, including participants, parents/guardians, coaches, volunteers, officials, partners, sponsors, and general visitors.

Amendments to Terms

Hockey Indigenous reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time without notice. Updated Terms will be posted on the Website and are effective immediately upon posting. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

Purpose of the Website

Hockey Indigenous exists to support, promote, and deliver Indigenous hockey programming, events, tournaments, education, community engagement, and related initiatives. The Website may include information, registration forms, schedules, policies, digital media, communications, and other resources intended for Indigenous players, families, and communities.

Eligibility and Participation

Participation in programs or events promoted through Hockey Indigenous may be subject to:
 

  • Age requirements

  • Indigenous identity or community affiliation criteria (where applicable)

  • Completion of registration forms

  • Payment of fees (if applicable)

  • Agreement to additional waivers, codes of conduct, or policies

  • NIJHC

  • Other Information
     

The organization reserves the right to accept, deny, suspend, or revoke participation where eligibility requirements or conduct standards are not met.

User Responsibilities

Users agree to:
 

  • Provide accurate, truthful, and complete information

  • Respect Indigenous cultures, communities, and values

  • Conduct themselves in a respectful, safe, and non-discriminatory manner

  • Follow all posted rules, codes of conduct, and program policies

  • Not misuse the Website or interfere with its operation
     

Harassment, racism, hate speech, bullying, or harmful behaviour online or offline will not be tolerated.

Indigenous Cultural Respect and Protocols

Hockey Indigenous and its programs are grounded in Indigenous values, traditions, and community protocols. Users acknowledge that:
 

  • Cultural teachings, stories, images, names, and symbols are shared with respect

  • Unauthorized reproduction, misuse, or misrepresentation of Indigenous knowledge or imagery is prohibited

  • Some content may belong collectively to Indigenous communities and not to individuals
     

Respect for Elders, Knowledge Keepers, communities, and Nations is expected at all times.

Registration, Payments, and Refunds

Where registrations or fees apply:
 

  • All fees must be paid in full by stated deadlines unless otherwise approved

  • Refund policies will be clearly outlined for each event or program

  • The organization is not responsible for costs related to travel, accommodation, or personal equipment

  • Late registrations may be refused

  • Payments made cannot be refunded due to Natural and other party contractual reasons

  • Registration deadlines must be respected

  • Fees must be paid in full unless otherwise approved

  • Refund policies vary by event and will be communicated clearly

  • No refunds for removal due to Code of Conduct violations
     

Hockey Indigenous reserves the right to cancel or modify programs due to safety, weather, ice availability, or unforeseen circumstances. Hockey Indigenous is not responsible for travel, lodging, or personal expenses.

Media, Photography, and Consent

By participating in programs or events promoted through Hockey Indigenous, users consent to the use of:
 

  • Photographs

  • Video recordings

  • Audio recordings

  • Names, team names, and likenesses

  • NIJHC
     

These materials may be used for promotional, educational, reporting, or archival purposes unless a written opt-out is submitted in advance.

If you have emailed us, texted via SMS, and messaged our official social media channels with information, media, photography, and other content, you agree that it gives us consent to use for social media, archival, and promotional use. 
 

Parents or guardians must provide consent for minors.

Health, Safety, and Assumption of Risk

Hockey Indigenous and related activities involve inherent risks, including injury. By participating:
 

  • Users acknowledge and accept these risks

  • Users confirm they are physically fit or have obtained medical clearance

  • Parents/guardians accept responsibility for minors

  • Adult users accept responsibility for themselves 
     

Hockey Indigenous is not responsible for injuries, illness, loss, or damage except where required by law.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the organization, its directors, staff, volunteers, partners, and affiliates are not liable for:
 

  • Personal injury, illness, or death

  • Property loss or damage

  • Technical issues, website downtime, or data loss

  • Third-party actions or services
     

Use of the Hockey Indigenous Website and services is at your own risk.

Separate Terms and Conditions.

In connection with your access to or use of the Services, you may be asked to consent to policies or terms and conditions in addition to these Terms. Please read these supplemental policies and terms carefully before accessing or making any use of such portions of the Services. Any supplemental terms will not vary or replace these Terms regarding any access to or use of the Services, unless otherwise expressly stated.

Intellectual Property

All Hockey Indigenous content - including text, logos, graphics, designs, videos, and materials - is protected by intellectual property laws and Indigenous cultural rights.
 

You may not:
 

  • Copy, distribute, or modify content without written permission

  • Use logos or branding for commercial purposes without authorization

Third-Party Links and Services

Hockey Indigenous may include links to third-party websites or services. The organization:
 

  • Does not control or endorse third-party content

  • Is not responsible for their policies, practices, or accuracy
     

Users access third-party services at their own discretion.

Privacy and Data Protection

Personal information collected through the Website is handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws and the Website’s Privacy Policy. Information may be used for:
 

  • Program administration

  • Communication

  • Reporting and funding requirements
     

User data will not be sold or misused.

Termination of Access

Hockey Indigenous reserves the right to suspend or terminate access to the Website or programs without notice if a user:
 

  • Violates these Terms

  • Engages in harmful or unsafe behaviour

  • Misrepresents information

  • Harmful interactions

These Terms may be updated at any time. Continued use of the Website constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Users are encouraged to review this policy regularly.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada, while respecting Indigenous rights and jurisdictions where applicable.

Privacy Policy

By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have reviewed and understand the HockeyIndigenous.com Privacy Policy (the "Privacy Policy"), which shall be incorporated into these Terms. You agree (i) to provide accurate, current, and complete information about yourself as may be prompted by any registration or other forms (collectively, "Registration Data"); (ii) to maintain the security of your password and username; (iii) to maintain and promptly update Registration Data and any other information you provide to NHL; (iv) not to sell, transfer, or assign your account; and (v) to be fully responsible for all use of your account and for any actions that take place using your account. You acknowledge that each NHL Member Club website may have its own separate policy that also governs your use of that website.

Acceptance of Term of Use

BY USING ANY SERVICE, YOU SIGNIFY YOUR AGREEMENT TO THESE TERMS. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use any of the Services. NHL may change the terms of this Agreement at any time, and your access to or use of Services after such change is posted will mean that you accept such change.

Waiver of Liability & Assumption of Risk

Hockey is a contact sport involving inherent risks, including serious injury or death.

By registering for or participating in NIJHC or any Indigenous hockey program, participants (or parents/guardians of minors) agree that:
 

  • Participation is voluntary

  • They knowingly assume all risks associated with hockey activities

  • The organization, host committees, sponsors, staff, volunteers, officials, and partners are released from liability for injuries, losses, or damages except where prohibited by law
     

Participants confirm they are physically and medically fit to participate.

Code of Conduct

All participants, including players, coaches, team staff, officials, parents, spectators, and volunteers, must adhere to the following Code of Conduct:
 

Expected Conduct

  • Respect Indigenous cultures, traditions, and protocols

  • Treat all individuals with dignity, fairness, and respect

  • Promote sportsmanship and positive competition

  • Follow all tournament rules and decisions by officials

  • Support a safe, inclusive, and drug-free environment
     

Prohibited Conduct

  • Racism, discrimination, or hate speech

  • Harassment, bullying, intimidation, or violence

  • Substance abuse (including drugs and alcohol where prohibited)

  • Damage to facilities or property

  • Unsportsmanlike behaviour toward officials or opponents
     

Violations may result in warnings, suspensions, ejections, forfeiture, or removal from the tournament without refund.

Indemnification

Participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Hockey Indigenous, event hosts, partners, sponsors, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or legal expenses arising from participation or violation of these Terms.
